Description

Break the Code, Catch the Spy!

The Code Trekkers camp is a four-day experience that focuses on teaching the science of cybersecurity to students. During the camp, students will get a chance to investigate real spy technology, both old and new. Using maps and handheld GPS units, campers will travel around Olde Towne Portsmouth while seeking clues to break codes and catch the spy. Students will learn how to decode secret messages using covert communications and the history of cybersecurity. They will also experiment with a spy technique called a “dead drop” for passing secret messages. Campers will discover how to hide their writing with special invisible ink, create and use spy gadgets like Caesar Cypher Wheels, Jefferson Wheels, and Morse Code to make and break codes, and learn about the science behind spying.
